DAILY PRAYER
IN N.S.W. PARLIAMENT. , r SYDNEY, May 3. In the Legislative Assembly last night, the Premier (Mr Stevens) gave notice of a motion to provide for the opening of the Parliamentary proceedings daily with prayer'. It is understood that members generally of the various political parties will raise no objection to the proposed form of prayer which is similar to that used in the Commonwealth Parliament. The proposal to open Parliamentary proceedings with prayer was first made to tlie Premier (Mr Stevens) by the Archbishop of Sydney (Dr Mow 11). Shortly before the adjournment last night, the Premier gave notice of a motion, as. follows: — “That this House agrees to and adopts the following standing order: 42A. Upon. the. Speaker taking the chair each day, he shall read the following prayer:—-‘Almighty God, we humbly beseech Thee to vouchsafe Thy blessing upon this Parliament. Direct and prosper our deliberations to the advancement of Thy glory, and the true welfare of the people of our State and Australia. Amen.’”
