LONDON, May 11. Australia. defeated Cambridge Uni versity by an innings and 163 runs. The players outnumbered the spec tators when play was resumed in brilliant. weather. ..yict ’abc who, last night, appeared to have influenza symptoms, was unexpectedly able io field to-day. Dinwiddy and Khan wore soon out, but Cox and Davies scored freely from Wall. This ninth wicket partnership proved so difficult to break that Grimmett was called on, though it was originally not intended to bowl him to-day. Cox and Davies rapidly added 46 before Ebeling uprooted Davies’ middle stump. The last wicket added 43. Cox was unconquered, making top score for the University. He played an enterprising innings, batting seventyfive minutes, and hitting nine fours. The Australian fielding, with the exception of that of Bradman and Brown, compared poorly with Cambridge’s speed, dash and brilliant picking up. Scores: —
