GARAGE THEFT
ATTENDANT BAILED UP. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION!] INVERCARGILL. May 12. A hold-up occurred at Edendale, shortly after 11 o’clock last night, when two men in a car pulled up at Suckling's garage, and asked for petrol. They handed the assistant a pound note, and followed him into the office, where he was bailed up with what looked like a sawn-off gun. The intruders grabbed a tin containing between three and four pounds, and decamped. Earlier in the evening, a car was stolen from David Grindlay’s residence in Invercargill, and the description of one used by the thieves tallies with it, except in number.
