SINGAPORE, April 12.

Mr Latham, Commonwealth Attor-

ney-General, in a statement at the conclusion of his tour of Java, said that in regard to the time he had spent there, it had completely confirmed the ideas that had actuated the Commonwealth Government in’ despatching the mission. The Union had made contacts, which would facilitate the future intercourse of the two countries. “After’ rapid, but colourful, visits to the inland districts of Java,’ he said, “we have left with a full sense of gratitude for the kindness and hospitality of our hosts, who also expressed their great appreciation of the action of the Australian Government in sending the mission. After meeting many of the business men of Java, and satisfied that a suitable trade representative here would be of great advantage to Australia.”
