Brother to War Buoy: An interesting foaling is reported in the' fact that Little Kewpie produced a’brother to the brilliant three-year-olcT War Buoy. Brilliant Trotter: Biddy Parrish is working well at present, as on Saturday she finished up hey task by stepping a final halfmile in lmin. 5 3-ssec. Good Work-out: Indianapolis did a good work-out over a mile and a-quarter ph Saturday, lie had the assistance of yVilpi’a Dillon and Royal Again. Galloping MEETINGS I TO COMB. Dec. 26—Poverty Bay. Dec. 26—Waipukurau. Dec. 26, 27—Westland. Dec. 26. 27—Taranaki. Dec. 26, 27—Dunedin. Dec. 26, 27, 29— Manawatu. Dec. 26, 28, Jan. 1,2, Auckland. Jan. I—Waikouati. Jan. I—Wyndham. Jan. 1, 2—Greymouth. Jan. 1, 2—Hawke’s Bay. Jan. 1, 2 —Stratford. Jan. 1, 2—Marton. Jan. 1, 2—Wairarapa. Jan. 2—Oamaru. Jan. 2, 3—Southland. Jan. 6, B—Reefton.8 —Reefton. Reprieved: Havering has been reprieved. His trainer, W. Grindley, has been giving him a great deal of barrier practice and he is working particularly well. If he behaves himself at Stratford he is regarded as sure to be in the money.

A Flying Machine: Banibury, who is- K. Voitre’s mount in the Railway Handicap, is beinggiven a great chance in that race. “Probably the fastest horse in commission,” is the opinion of one who saw him at To Awamutu on Saturday, “but he lacks staying power.” Argentics’s Breeding: Argentic was got by Silverado from Spotlight, by Nassau —Stardancer, by Martian —'Stepdancer, by 4 Stepinak— Pibroch, by Lochiel. He is an improving sort and stays on at the right end of a race. Weeds Out Winners: The Chokebore Lodge stable occa- : sionally weeds out some winners, and Final Shot has scored two wins since being sold. When this sort of thing occurs it creates a market for the surplus stock in a stable. Consistent Cleaner: Cleaner’s win did not come out of its turn when she won last week. It marked her second success, and may prove an indication of better things. She is a four-year-old filly by Lord Quex from Charlady, by Absurd — Lady D., by St. Denis —Lady C., by Ladas —St. Cecilia, by St. Serf. It is a pedigree suggesting possibilities. Quality Horse: Manctho, who was unlucky in not scoring a win at the New Zealand Cup, showed good form by winning at Riccarton on Saturday. On the score of appearance and breeding Manetho might win any race. He has plenty of size and quality, and was got by Diacquenod from Lovelorn, the dam of Nones, Menelaus, and Prince Paladin. He is also a half-brother to Left, the dam of Gaine Carrington and Peter Jackson. Vintage is Good: The latest success scored by Vintage tends to confirm the good impression he made when winning at the New Zealand Cup meeting. The opposition against him on Saturday was not particularly strong, but he carried 9.11 and ran home a comfortable winner in lmin. 39 4-ssec. Vintage was bred by his owner, Mr. W. D. Westenra, and got by Shambles from Quality, by Clarenceux. Not Reliandicapped:

Gold Trail had very little to spare at the end of the middle distance handicap, which she won at Greenmeadows on Saturday, but the result may have been different had there been more pace on in the early part of the contest. The Auckland handicapper has decided not to rehandicap her for her success, so that she remains one of the chances on the Auckland Cup minimum. The apprentice, A. G. Baker, who is a good horseman, will ride her.

Riccarton Invaders: Rocket, Cricket Bat, Copyist, Croupier, Variant, Southdown and Guarantee, who went north last evening, will be folowed to-day by Nightly, Shatter, Silver Streak and Minerval. The inclusion of ■ the last-named was only finally decided on after a work-out yesterday over a mile, in which he went particularly well. Shatter and Nightly went a strong mile, also Southdown, who was assisted by Variant for the last four furlongs. Minerval will be ridden in the Cup by C. E. Eastwood. X NOTES FROM RICCARTON, 4 DEPARTURES FOR AUCKLAND, [special to “stab.”] CHRISTCHURCH, December 18. Five of the horses booked to race at Auckland were galloped the reverse way on the outside of the course proper to-day. Shatter and Nightly covered a mile at a strong pace, and Minerval, assisted by Sam Smith for part, of the journey, executed a similar task, while Southdown, with Variant as a mate for the last half-mile, strode over the same ground. All showed pleasing form in view of their Northern engagements. Minerval’s work was specially attractive, and if he should strike a yielding track at Ellerslie, he will race prominently. He will be shipped north to-morrow, and will be ridden in the Auckland Cup by C. Eastwood.

Chokebore Representatives: H. Cutts went north to-night with Cricket Bat, Rocket and Copyist. The two-year-old Horn’s Reef was' intended to make the trip, but jarred a joint when working last week, and it was decided to leave him at home. An Attractive Display: Don Jose (G. Barr) and Fleeting Glance (H. Turner) made amends for their mistakes in a schooling task last week by executing a faultless display over six hurdles to-day. Both jumped fast and clean, and they prove to be a useful pair for hurdle events at the forthcoming sotuhern meetings. C. Emerson left for Auckland this evening with Croupier, who has been showing his best form on the tracks since tho New Zealand Cup meeting, and should collect some more stake money on the trip. F. D. Jones, with Shatter and Nightly, and T. Hobbs, with Silver Streak, ' leave for Auckland to-morrow.

WESTLAND CLUB’S MEETING. FIELDS FOR BOXING DAY. Acceptances received by the Westland Racing Club, for the opening day (December 26) of its Summer meeting, are greater in number and quality than was the case twelve months ago. From the nominated list there have been few withdrawals. As the Club will be making provision for two dividends on fields of five and more, the acceptances point to the unpopular one-dividend races being avoided.
