RACE FOR TROPHY
KING ISSUES CHALLENGE
LONDON, October 26.
The King, with his five-year-old brown horse, Fox-earth, and Loid Astor, with Creme Brulee, have challenged Lord Harewood to race for “The Whip,” an historic trophy, which has been contested for only twice since 1918. The race originated in 1764, and the trophy was the whip of Charles 11. When it was lost a Substitute was made out of the tail of the unbeaten horse, Eclipse. The race will be run over the old Newmarket course, finishing at the top of the town, with a farm waggon constituting the judge’s stand.
