OLDEST FRENCH SOLDIER
FOUGHT IN GREAT WAR. PARIS. September 21. Antoine Courthinoux, the oldest French soldier, who fought, in the world w;ir, has died at Caen at the age of 90. He took part in the FrancoPrussian war in 1870, and in 1914, when 71, joined the army again to avenge the death of his grandson, who had been killed at the opening of host ilit ies. At the front, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and received the Croix de Guerre, and the Military Medal.
