EXPRESS SMASHES LORRY
COLLISION AT STATION.

AUCKLAND, September 5.
The Auckland-Rotorua express crashed into a cream lorry at Paerata railway 'station, at eleven o’clock this morning. The driver, Bert Adams, married, was hurled right over the cab of the railway engine. He fell on the side of the line, and was admitted to the hospital suffering from facial injuries, a deep cut on the body, and shock. The lorry was smashed to pieces. The express engine was damaged and the express was delayed for 75 minutes until another engine was obtained. An eye-witness said that he tried to warn the lorry driver, but his vision was apparently obscured.
