General inference: An intense anticyclone covers southern Australia, and extends across the south Tasman Sea to New Zealand, but a cyclone is developing in the north Tasman Sea. Forecast: Light to moderate winds, with south to east predominating. Weather fine, cold night temperatures with some frost, but pleasant day. Seas smooth to moderate.
