MRS MeCOMBS FOR LABOUR. [per press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, August 9. ■ Mrs Elizabeth R. McCombs was tonight selected as the official Labour candidate to contest the Lyttelton seat. COALITION CHOICE. WELLINGTON, August 9. Mr Coates, in a statement issued tonight on behalf of Mr Ransom and himself, as joint leaders of the two parties which form the Coalition Government, endorses Mr F. W. Freeman, Christchurch, as the official Coalition candidate at the Lyttelton by-election. DATE OF ELECTION WELLINGTON, August 10. Mr. Coates announced to-day, that September 13 had been fixed as the date of the Lyttelton by-election. The writ is to be issued on Monday, and the roll to be closed at six p.m. on that day. Nominations close at noon on Monday, August 28.
