Tour own correspondent.] Miss Jean Nichols, who has been visiting Waiuta as the guest of Mrs. W. Lines, has returned to Reefton. Mr. and Mrs. C. Barnes left for Grey mouth, from there they will proceed to Christchurch.

Mr. F. Goldwothy, who has been confined fo his room for the past week, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. What might be described „ as the most successful ball of the season was held on Friday night last, when the Waiuta Catholic parishioners held their annual ball. The supper and hall arrangements, which were in the hands of a capable committee, were well carried out. The hall was tastefully decorated in well selected colours of brown and white and orange and green streamers, and toned well with the many pretty evening gowns worn by the ladies. Lucky spot dances were won by Mr. L. Page and Miss J. Collins and Mr. P. O’Donnell and partner. The music for the dancing was supplied by Steel’s orchestra, while Mrs. S. Ramsden contributed extras. Mr. J. Bartlett was M.C. and was assisted by Mr. F. Thorn. Mr. R. Morrisey, on behalf of the Rev. Father Spring, thanked those present for their patronage, and hoped they were enjoying themselves. Two football matches were held in Waiuta on Sunday last, between Waiuta and United juniors, which was won by the former by 32 to 2, and Ikamatua and Waiuta seniors, the visitors winning by 13 points to 9 after a very poor game. One Ikamatua player, Culling, was ordered off in the second spell of the senior game for’ bad language. Mr. S. P. Williams was referee in both games.
