[PKB PBESB ASSOCIATION.] MAN DROWNED. DUNEDIN, July 14. A fatality occurred at Cromwell today, when Mark Holmes, married, aged 45, of Clyde, fell from a pontoon into the Kawarau River, and was drowned. A search for the body proved unavailing. SOUTHLAND’S LOWER RATES INVERCARGILL, July 14. A reduction in the County rate for the coming year of 20 per cent, in some riding, and more in others, was made by the Southland County Council to-day. MISSING YOUTH FOUND. CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. David Skoeche Wilson, the 17 yearold Lyttelton youth, who had been missing since Monday, and was believed drowned, was found this afternoon on Quail Island, a former quarantine and leper station, near the head of the harbour. It seems that he landed on the island on Monday night, and placed his clothes in a dinghy, which was either set adrift or carried out by the tide. He had taken possession of a house in the temporary absence of the lessee of the island, and was found by the police hiding in a cupboard. The boy, who appeared to be suffering from hallucinations was removed to Christchurch Hospital. .
