The prevalence of suburban robberies and assaults on -women has led to the formation of private patrols, composed of unemployed returned soldiers, who. for a small fee, protect homes during the absence of the householders. They will also provide escorts for women returning at night, meeting them at trains or trams. The demand for these men’s services is increasing in many suburbs. N.S.W’s DEFICIT. SYDNEY, July 15. Official details of the revenue expenditure for New South Wales for the financial year ended June 30, disclose a deficit of £4,127,747. This is an improvement of £10,100,097 upon the result of the previous year. The revenue totalled £48,437,046 and expenditure £52,564,793.
