Trotting

meetings to come April 15, 17. —Hawera. April 15, 19.—N.Z. Metropolitan. April 22.—Taranaki. April 22.—Ashburton. Aprils 27, 29.— Wanganui. April 29—Auckland. May 4, 6. —Forbury Park. May 6. —Cambridge. May 13— Oamaru. . June 1, 3.—Hawke’s Bay. June 3, s.—Canterbury Park. Royal Wrack: Ran fair races at Westport, and with an uninterrupted run, which he did not get in any of his races, he would have been much closer at the finish. He is engaged at Kumara, where the two races will be in saddle. A slight improvement on Westport form would make him hard to beat. Major Brent: Has been doing all required of him at Omoto, and he should strip a fit horse for the two saddle races for trotters at Kumara. He is reliable, and should not be long in earning a stake. ' '. . ■ Binscarth.: Is getting slower, while cithers get faster. Th© prospects of Binscarth winning, or even being placed, in the saddle events at Kumara, are such that those in front will have to experience a lot of trouble duriag the running before he can be said to hold a bright chance. He is better in saddle than in harness, but he is giving away big starts to promising young horses. Dawn Sonoma: Does it well on the training track, but is seldom reliable at the races. She is speedy, and of late has been given plenty of useful work, her condition being excellent A natural straight-out trotter, Dawn Sonoma, with her speed, might have proved a better proposition had she been allowed to remain with the unhoppled brigade. Lazy Pete; On his showing at Westport, he is aptly named. He looked in good condition, but did not put much effort into his races. The public must have considered that there was good reason for the name, as had he won, the dividends on either machine would have been sensational. He is a three-year-old by Wrack out of Precision, and so has plenty of time in which to improve on Westport performances.

Marvin Bingen: Won his races easily at Westport, Handicapped.' 24 yards for his win on the first day, he moved off sm irtly on Monday, and took the lead aft ir three furlongs had been covered in 1 he Denniston Trot. Nothing opposec to him could extend Marvin Bingen, and his present form should bring him further success during the Coast cin uit.

Glengowrie : Finished fast into second place in the Denniston Handicap, after meeting with trouble on the journey, and he also went a good race in the second trot. Glengowrie is a free-ictioned pacer, who should command a big following if started at Hokitika, and following Coast meetings. Levanter:

Moved away smartly in the Waimangaroa Trot at Westport, but broke up after leading for a furlong. He is most unreliable at the barrier, but has a lot of pace, and it was considered by his party that if he could get away on terms with the others, he would go close to winning. Speed is of little use when a horse will not pace evenly, and Levanter is not reliable. even in that direction.

Not Ready: Judged on looks, Fernbrook Lass was not ready for the races at Westport. She bore a tucked-up appearance, and ran as though she was incapable of effort. She is a smart mare when in the proper condition, but a big improvement will have to result, before she will be hailed as a winner. Queen Author:

Scored an easy win in the Waimangaroa Trot. She was never further back than third, and after three furlongs had been covered, she took the lead. Thereafter nothing else in the race troubled her. She is a full sister to Indian Author, which is also trained by F. G. Lynch at Westport. Queen Author gives promise of being a better performer than her brother.
