REEFTON, March 11.

Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Osborne, who have been on holiday in the North Island, have returned. A cricket match will be played at Waiuta to-morrow between teams representing Waiuta and the Reefton Ladies’ Club. The following Reefton team has been selected: Mesdames I. McCaffrey, L. Eckland, B. Blom; Misses H. Mitchell, E. Evans, J. Currie, C. Panchurst, B. Chapman, M. Brooks, M. Woods, I. Kearns. A meeting of the committee of the Reefton Athletic and Cycling Club was held last evening. Mr. W. S. Pratt presided. The following officials for the forthcoming meeting were selected: Messrs AV. S. Pratt, Referee and Marshall. Starters: Mr. Gore Porter (running and cycling), Chopping, Mr. SAustin. Judges: Messrs G. Lockington, A. Richdale, T. Kearns, G. E. Hubbard. Chopping: Mr. Topp. Handicappers: G. E. Perkins, running; D. Wright, cycling; Chopping, J. Flaherty.

The monthly meeting of the Reefton Musical and Literary Society was held last evening. Rev. Father Seymour presided. It was resolved that the subscription for the six monthly period to the first annual meeting be 4/-. Arrangements were made to establish a literary circle and a committee to be formed for this purpose. The chairman, on behalf of the Society, said farewell to Miss Hutton, and referred to Miss Hutton’s keen interest in the work and wished her health, happiness and prosperity in her new locality. An enjoyable programme was provided, the numbers being as follow: Glee Circle, “Softly Falls the Shades of Evening”; and “Londonderry Air.” Vocal Duets, Mrs. Sharpe and Miss Hutton, “The Garden of Happiness.” Mrs. Sharpe and Mrs. Discacaiti, “Life’s Dream is O’er.” Vocal solos with refrain, Mr. Cooper, “My Bonnie Highland Laddie.” Father Seymour “Rolling Home.” ’Humorous reading “The Bachelor Tax,” Miss Thompson. Piano Duet, Mrs. Lawn and Mr. C. Lawn, “Greek March."
