WELLINGTON, March 10. Prisoners were sentenced, to-day, by His Honor, Justice Reed: —■

* Edwin Edwards, indecent assault on a male (three charges), two years’ imprisonment concurrent, to be followed by a year’s reformative detention. Robert William Reay. breaking, entering and theft, two years’ hard labour. .Tames Cunningham Parker and James Edward White, breaking, entering and theft, twelve months’ hard labour.

Marsh Kaimoana, breaking, entering and theft at Wairoa, twelve months’ reformative detention. His Honor remarked that prisoner was an educated Maori, who attributed his lapses to liquor. He would be well advised to Leave it' alone.

Frederick Howard Davis, causing a person to receive a letter with intent to extort money, three years’ probation, and to pay costs of prosecution 25/-, and debarred from attending picture shows for a. year. His Honor mentioned prisoner’s youth, and said the Probation Officer gave him a good character. The bombastic language in the letter satisfied His Honor that prisoner should be treated as having the mental capacity of a child, who had been allowed to attend too many gangster pictures.
