AUSTRALIAN RUGBY
ALTERATION TO RULES.

BRISBANE, February 17
It. is understood that the English Rugby Union authorities have refused to agree to certain alterations to the rules which Australian players consider to be vital in the interests of the game in this country. The author*-
ties are awaiting a letter from England detailing the views held there, and are hoping that some way out of the critical situation existing may be found. The authorities here contend that a return to the international law will be fatal to the Rugby Union code in Queensland, which has eleven play-, ers in the Australian team that is go-1
ing to South Africa in April. It is understood that it also is proposed to send an Australian Rugby Union colts team to New Zealand towards the close of the coming season, if this is acceptable to New Zealand. The All Blacks will .be invited to visit Australia in 1»64 to meet the Wallabies, who will be fresh from their South African tour.
