WRESTLING AND BOXING At a meeting of the Greymouth Boxing Association held last evening it was deckled to make immediate negotiations for a wrestling match between George Walker and Al Karasick at Greymouth on Friday, November 18. it was further decided that endeavours be made to match Croft and Moore in a professional boxing match at Greymouth on Friday, December 2.
“A thorough inquiry will be made into the happenings of Tuesday and what action is taken -will depend, of course, on the result of the inquiry,” said Superintendent D. J. Cummings in alluding to the -wrestling contest between Dean Detton and Harry Demetral, at the Civic Theatre. The referee, Mr A. Craig, found it necessary to call on the police to put both men out of the ring after they had “mixed” things. “In view of the report of the proceedings.” said the Superintendent, “I expect the Canterbury Wrestling Association to take some action in the matter. If the report is borne out by
the tacts, the question will have to be seriously considered whether the association will receive a permit again for both or either of the men' to wrestle here. I am looking into the quest ion. too, whether certain tactics which have come under notice in previous contests come within the category of fair sport.” billiards. LONDON, October 27.
