MEETINGS TO COME June 16, 18 —Hawke’s Bay. . June 18—-S. Canterbury. June 23—-Egmont-Wanganui Hunt. June 24, 25 —Napier Park. June 25 —Ashburton C’ty. July 2 — Oamaru. Back to Owner: Mr. A. Beban has tired of the three-year-old filly Polathea by Polazel-Thea, and has returned ; her to her owner, polathea was the best-looking horse in training at Omoto, but that is as much as codld be said for her. 'She-disap-pointed too often in her gallops to warrant persevering .with her. Given Away: Mr. Beban has also tired of another; Of :his gallopers. The six-year-old mare ■Quinola (Quin Abbey-The Rand mare),; has not furnished as she should, and, her .prospects of earning her keep were; regarded as so remote, that Mr. Beban; made a present of her to'a local farm-i er. -,

:Killigrew Brought' in: The only horse mow left in the.Bebahj stables the wayward ’Killigrew. The; gelding has been brought in again af-. ter spelling since the New Year; meetings. This once-promising galloper will be given another opportunity to mend his ways, and should he decide -to -do -so, -then -his .galloping -ability should enable him to earn jnore than his keep.'

-Turned -Out: - Earthquake has been turned out, and aftfer a season of hard racing, will enjoy the run of the paddock until the Spring meetings commence. Earthquake ’ has proved herself a hardy three-year-old -being another instance of the amount of work and travelling that the Acre family will stand up to. In At Timaru: •> - Two horses which have been kept in training at Omoto are Mataa and Knocklong. Both have been entered -for -the .Timaru .meeting, which is -to be held next Saturday. Providing the; handicapper’s adjustments suit, these 1 ’horses wfflnnake the trip. tKnockalong; is in a mile hack -event, and with a light impost, might prove troublesome. Lost All Form: It is a long time since Animated won a race, .and the Tree Lucerne-Inspira-tion mare .appears to have lost all form. She can be obtained for a low figure, but there appear to be few events now-a-days that would suggest this aged mare as a good proposition. Disappointed: . Eaton Hall raced much below track form at Greymouth and Reefton. He looked well, and was expected to be prominent in his races, but he was never dangerous. Only a four-year-old, there is time for Eaton Hall to improve, and as he has built up into a solid-looking gelding, his record next season should be better than what he has accomplished in the past. ■J Noteworthy Schooling: Noteworthy has been handed over to R. Orange, for schooling over the sticks. He has been tried at Omoto this week, but so far his efforts have been very ordinary. Subdivision has also been recruited to, the hurdling game, and this, disappointing galloper has taken well to the sticks. Being by Surveyor, he should do well in this department, as Surveyor stock have shown great adaptability as jumpers,— Make Up and Landmark being two.

Paquito Comes Back:' Paquito is now under the care of W. M’Donald, to whom he was /presented by Mr. H. A. Knight a few months ago. The Thurnham gelding has had a good spell, and after being hacked about for a few weeks, he has made his reappearance on the tracks. He looks in the rough yet, but M’Donald hopes to have him ready to win races in the Spring.

G. Young’s Colours: The ex-New Zealand jockey, George Young, who is now training in Sydney, had his colours .carried for the first time at Benangle about a fortnight .ago by the two-year-old Top Jig. He has shown quite a pardonable sentimental leaning in his selection of yellow and red stripes, With a black cap to distinguish the jacket from Mr. G. D. Greenwood’s livery, in which Young scored so many, notable, successes, especially on Gloaming. Melbourne Penalties:

Landmark, originally weighted at 10,8 for the V.R.C. Grand National Hurdle Race, will haveto carry 11.1 as the result of his win in the Great Northern Hurdle Race. Similarly /Billy Boy in the V.R.C. Grand National Steeplechase will go up from 11.0 t 011.7 for having won the Winter Steeplechase a Ellerslie.
