GERMAN PRESIDENCY
NAZIS SATISFIED. [TIMES CABLES.] LONDON, April 10. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” states: Despite Marshal Von Hindenburg’s easy victory to which the abstention from voting of hundreds of thousands of the Left Wing Communists has . contributed, the Nazis are delighted with their increase in strength. They declared it will be even greater in the Prussian, Bavarian and Wurtenburg elections. It appears that Herr Hitler has not Only gained a majority of Herr Duesterberg’s followers, but that he also gained a large proportion of the Communist votes. It appears also there was, in addition, a heavily increased poll throughout. DEBT MORATORIUM. LONDON, April 10. A message from “The Times’s” Berlin correspondent says: England, Sweden, Denmark, and Holland have concluded a second standstill agreement, covering short term credits that were extended to Germany, amounting to 247 million marks. This provides for a moratorium until March 15, 1933, subject to the immediate repayment of ten per cent, of the debt. The balance of the debt is to bear six per cent, interest that was payable under the expiring standstill agreement.
