NEW ENGLISH “HOPE.”

LONDON, April 10
Miss Katherine Stammers, aged 18, won the Surrey hard-court tennis championship, defeating Dorothy Round 6-4, 6-4, in the final after beating Mrs. Mitchell, Misses Ridley and Heelcy, who, with Miss Round had been selected for the Wightman Cup trials, in which Miss Stammers was not included. Newspapers are acclaiming Miss Stammers as- the English hope with possibilities rivalling Helen WillsMoody.
