ART UNIONS

TAKAPUNA SEEKS PERMIT.

[SPECIAL TO “STAB.”]

AUCKLAND, March 10.

The Takapuna Borough Council is to take its place in the queue of applicants for a permit to organise an art union. This decision was come to last evening, following upon a debate upon unemployment. “All sections, including the churches, seem to gamble,” said the Mayor (Mr J. Guiniven). “Life is one biggamble, but the biggest gamble of the lot is to be a member of a Borough Council.” The Town Clerk was instructed to apply to the Minister for Internal Affairs, for a permit to organise an art union for the raising of funds to supplement the weekly unemployment allocations, and to purchase material for permanent work.
