15 KILLED—SO WOUNDED. [BY CABLE—PBESB ABBN.—COPYBIGHT.] LONDON, October 31. The “Dally Mail’s” correspondent at Athens reports:—Fifteen insurgents have been killed in Cyprus and fifty wounded. The casualties were caused mostly by machine gun fire, during a conflict with British troops. SITUATION” EASIER (Rec. Nov. 2, 8 a.m.) LONDON, November 1. A Colonial Office communique describes the situation in Cyprus as perceptibly easier. GREEK MANIFESTO. ATHENS, October 31. A committee of forty, including exPresident Konduriotis, have issued a manifesto to enlighten the public opinion of the noble, generous English nation, and to make it understod what are the rights of the people of Cyprus. They said: “We trust in the generosity of the English soul.” SERVICES FORBIDDEN. ATHENS, November 1. M. Venizelos has forbidden Requiems here for those killed in the Cyprus riots. This was due to hints that sympathisers intended to demonstrate outside the British Embassy. DEMAND FOR FREEDOM. (Received, November 2, 1 p.m.) ATHENS, November 1. “We want only justice” was inscribed on a huge banner before the Church of Naroussi on the occasion of the requiem for the Cyprus dead. Several thousands attended the service. > Various speakers urged that powerful magnanimous Britain should give Cyprus to her natural mother, Greece. The gathering adopted an appeal, addressed to the “civilised world,” declaring that orders sent from London to stifle by fire and steel the Cypriots’ struggle for freedom, must be revoked, and urged the League of Nations to intervene. A committee was appointed to present the appeal to M. Venizelos, the heads of the Greek political parties, and foreign embassies. A great number of the gathering immediately set off to accompany the committee to the Legations.

Other great bodies have passed a resolution demanding freedom.
