In a wrestling match, Jim Deakin, 11U (Sbottish Australian middleweight) beat Jack Hamon, 10.13.1. at the Stadium. There were six rounds. Hamon hurt his hip when Deakin secured a fall, in the sixth round, and the towel was thrown in. ROWING. SYDNEY, May 10. The great public schools gala was held 011 the Parramatta River yesterday. The Church of England Grammar School won the champion eights after a gruelling head of the river race. Sydney High School came second, and St. Joseph’s College third. It was one of the finest races in the history of this 4 ' competition, the margins being only six feet and a canvas at the finish. King’s School eight also rowed well. BOWLING. SYDNEY, May 10. At Sydney the New South Wales bowling championship -finals were played. In the singles, C. A. McNeill, of Hamilton, beat G. Gartrell, .of Chatswood, by 31 to 19. In the pairs, Curtis and Fitzpatrick, of Manly, beat Hawke and Wheeler, of Dubbo, by 21 to 18. In the rinks, D. and O. Oldroyd, Bartleet and Sharbles (Woonona) beat Crispe, Pepper, Chase and Howie (Epping) by 24 to 22. MOTOR CYCLING. \ LONDON, May 10. At the invitation of the Hungarian Automobile Club, E. A. Simcock arid Alan Bruce (Melbourne) departed for Tat, near Burapest, with an aJI-Britisli motor ’cycle, to attack J. S. Wright s world record of 150.74 miles an hour. They hope to attain 175 on the straight ten mile section of the Vienna-Buda- . pest road.
