GREYMOUTH FRIVOLITIES. In these days of so-called depression, an occasional glimpse of the lighter side of life is more than ever necessary and the entertainm a, *.L which is to be given in the Town Hall on Tuesday, May 12, promises to be as effectual an antidote as could be -devised to any feeling of depression. The programme is announced as possessing a wealth of novelties and this claim is more than justified. Prominent on the programme are, of course, humorous numbers, and those who desire to be made laugh can satisfy their praiseworthy desire^to the full at the Town Hall on Tuesday night. Mr A. A. Rouse, whose qualities as a comedian are already favourably known to the public, will be heard in comic songs, and Messrs Wilde and Coll, whose amusing team-work has been such a success in previous concerts, will be seen and heard at their very best advantage in a theatrical sketch “At the Theatre.” Messrs W. and P. McGrath will present an intensely thrilling dramatic sketch entitled “Bush Whisky.” One, item that is bound to prove most ’popular is the weight-lifting demonstration by Mr A. Pratt, at one time champion of Australia and New Zealand. - Mr Pratts act also includes ball-punching and a most daring “brick” act. Bricks will be broken with an axe ;on the performer’s body. Two brief lectures, that the audience will enjoy, will be given. Mr Bertram Potts, the wellknown big game hunter, giving a vivid narrative of his experiences and Miss B. Ogden, M.L.A.C., giving her views on “Women’s Suffrage.” Dancing will occupy a prominent place in the programme. Miss M. An Irish Jig will also be given by tiny Baby Austin, aged five years, and Miss Patti Mar-: shall, talented Highland dancer, will also give a solo number. Those whose pleasure lies in listening to good songs well sung, have their tastes well catered for. Mrs C. Moss and Messrs 0. Nicholson, and j. Hadlund will all be heard in vocal numbers which should exercise a great appeal. Music throughout the evening will be provided by Mr F. Restieaux’s orchestra of twelve instruments, and Mrs H. C.
