The committee’s report shows the total receipts were £862, and the expenses £3235. WOOL SALES. MELBOURNE, May 9. The National Council of wool-selling brokers of Australia stated that sales this vear had shown a considerable increase. Figures were 1.877.384 bales in the 1929-30 season, and 2,1 i2, 91« for the year just closed. On the other hand, the number of bales shipped overseas for the present season is about 2000 fewer than last year. SEAMEN REJECT STRIKE. SYDNEY, May 8. At a turbulent meeting, the members of the Sydney branch of the Seamen’s Union rejected, by a majority of eight to one, a proposal by the extreme element for a strike against the 10 per cent, reduction, which operates to-day. MELBOURNE, May 8. The Victorian Seamen’s Union, by an overwhelming majority, rejected the strike-motion against the 10 per cent, wage cut.
