Loss over all is £745. ALEXANDER MINES. Report for April states:—N.W. Crosscut, McKay Block. —This face is now out 60 feet from the main crosscut, and at this point the reef was intersected. The width of the lode is 2ft 6ih. on tlic north side, but is slightly smaller on the south side. The reef is still showing strong under foot. No values are yet to hand. A rise has been put up five feet, and a connection made with the winze sunk from the intermediate above. No. 1 Loffins Level. —This has been driven to 30ft from surface, but owing to the values in the stone being confined to the pyrites this work has been discontinued. Stoping was carried on at all portions of the McKay Block and two men have also been employed driving p. solid stope 28ft above No. 3 level (McVicar Block). The lode here is over 3ft in width and gold can be seen freely in the stone. Battery: 318 tons of ore crushed for 128 oz 7dwt melted gold. Cyanided: 18S tons of sands treated for 520 z of bullion.
