CONFESSION OF MURDER

STABS WITH SCREW-DRIVER

A group of attorneys and witnesses who were waiting in the hearing room for the appearance of a wealthy estate owner, to begin proceedings involving his property/were startled at the sudden entrance of a'man who was trembling with. excitement, and who asked, “Who is the Judge? Cornelius Kahlen won’t be down! I just killed him!” r . \ The man produced a blood-stained screw-driver. ' Kahleh’s wife, who was present, became hysterical, wjjile the amazed lawyers sent the police to Kahlen’s flat, -where he was found ’ dead with numerous stab wounds. _ - The murderer revealed that he had been his victim’s servant for many years. He described, himself as the sympathetic friend of Mrs Kahlen, and said he had killed his employer because he' believed that kahlen was’ attempting, to gojo Germany with his money, leaving his wife destitute. ,-i—<■' . ‘V.. The Coroner inquiring -into the death of Adeline Wilson, the _l6-year- ; old girl whose body was' found in a park at Oymond on January 10, found that she was murdered by,some person or persons, unknown. The body w'as discovered ■in a paddock not far from her home. A stocking was stuffed into her mouth, and another was tied round her neck. Her' legs were also tied. -, It is believed that she w’as first outraged and then suffocated. There is evidence that she was dragged for some distance. , The police searched for a youth who was seen , talking to i Adeline Wilson near the front gate of her home the night f before/, her death. She had been shockingly maltreated, . This outrage was the third one within , two /.months, : with similar features in each case. The girt Mena Griffiths, aged 11, was outraged: and. murdered, and was discovered in . an empty house at Ormond.
