DELHI, March 20.

Communal rioting in United Provinces has assumed serious proportions. Eleven were killed and two were injured near Mirzapore. The trouble there started when a Moslem sent a dead calf to a Hindu, upbn which'Hindus, armed with guns and spears, raided several Moslem houses, dragged people out and killed them, and then set fire to the houses.

The city of Agra is in a panic. The students of St. John’s College were attacked by butchers with carving knives. Guerilla warfare developed between different factions and necessitated police interference. Gandhi had an all day discussion with the Viceroy and the Home Secretary on the question bf the release of political prisoners. He is now endeavouring to induce

the Hindu-Moslem - leaders to settle communal problems.
