SOCCER. The Westland F.A. made the dravz last evening for the semi-final of the Hcslin Cup, the result being:—Taylorville v Cobden, at Dobson. Kick off at 2.45 p.m. C. Hogg, referee. Dobson bye. GREY FLYING CLUB. The annual meeting of the Grey Flying Club was held.last evening in the club’s rooms, and there was a large number of members present. Poschich; assistant secretary, A. McMaster. The club intend holding their first race in a month’s time, and also intend holding long distance races this season from Nelson and Wellington. The club wishes to thank those who presented them with trophies for last season’s racing. PIGEON SHOOTING.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 11

The New Zealand live pigeon championship was fired to-day in dull weather, but. an absence of wind was welcomed by the shooters. There were 31 entries. The championship was Avon by M. Pratt (Hamilton), with E. F. Stead (Christchurch) as runnerup. In tho first shoot eight killed twenty birds, viz., E. P. Graham, H. Grenfell. B. McElwick, J. Pratt, R. S. Taylor, E. F. Stead, H. M. Wright and W. G. Gerard. These divided the prize money. In the shoot-off, Pratt ( '.hot 19 straight. Stead failed at tho 19th, Wright, at the 16th, Taylor at the 11th, Gerard and Grenfell at the 6th, Graham at the sth, and McElwick missed tho first bird.
