“TERRIBLE TURK” WINS.

AUCKLAND, August 10.
In his first appearance in Auckland, Kara Pasha, the Turkish wrestler, defeated Tom Alley, of the United States before a packed audience in the Town Hall on Saturday evening. The two men had met previously in Wellington, where the Turk won by two submission falls from Alley.
It was the first contest to be held under the control of the -recently-form-ed ex-Servicemen’s Wrestling Union, and the new Association received good support. The first three rounds were fast and even, but in the fourth round Kara Pasha gained a submission fall with a toe hold.
made desperate, but unsuccessful attempts to equalise in the fifth round and in the sixth, the Turk gained a second submission fall with another toe hold.
STRANGLER LEWIS WINS
(Recd. August 11, 8 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 10.
In his first Australian match, Strangler Lewis (U.S.A.) exploited only the crudest holds on Saturday night against Charlie Strack, but his great strength enabled him to triumph. So severe were his headlocks, that Strack was unable to rise, and was removed unconscious. He was thrown five times and was finally pinned.
