At Southampton, in the single semifinals to-day, Wood defeated Shields 1/6, 1/6, 1/8, 7/5, 6/4: Allison defeated Hunter 6/4. 9/11, 4/6, 7/5, 6/2. In the quarter finals of the doubles, Wood and Shields beat.Tilden and Hunter 6/4. 6/3.
COURSING Coursing is to be revived in Greymouth. At a well attended meeting of persons interested, it was resolved last evening, on the motion of Mr. J. D. Wingham, seconded by Mr. J. Braithwaite that a club be formed. An inspection of Wingham Park will be made on Sunday at 1.30 p.m. for the purpose of ascertaining whether there is sufficient area available for the holding of a plumpton. It was resolved that the New Zealand Coursing Association be asked to supply rules and particulars in reference to the formation of a club. A further meeting will be held.,when officers will be elected, rules adopted and affiliation applied for.
