LABOURITE’S CHEQUE

EX-M.P.’s FLIGHT.

LONDON, June 5. Judgment for £10,369, including £4OOO in respect of a dishonoured cheque, was given in the King’s Bench Division against Dr George Ernest Spero, late Labour member for West Fulham. The action arose out of Spero’s sale of a wireless equipment business to a syndicate, which resold it to the plaintiff, Truphonic Radio Ltd. The claim also concerned book debts, amounting to £6369, for which Spero gave a guarantee. Counsel added that Spero obtained six months’ delay in order to defend the action by counter-claiming £20,000, which on examination proved fictitious. He made good use of the time, having a bill of sale over the furniture, after which he went to America, where he remains outside the Court’s jurisdiction.
