HOKITIKA V. GREYMOUTH
A golf match will be. played at Hokitika on Thursday between Greymouth and Hokitika ladies’ team. Greymouth—-Mrs Hannan, Miss Tennent, Mrs Brown, Mrs G. McKay, Mrs Thorpy, Miss Reynolds, Mrs Smith, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Fogarty, Miss Sheedy, Miss A. Pratt, Mrs Boyd, Mrs Kitchingham, Miss Pratt and Miss AVarnes.
Hokitika:—Mrs Neville, Mrs Cooke, Mrs Baker, Miss Lewis, Mrs Cox, Mrs Langford, .Mrs Butler, Mrs AVilson, Mrs Macfarlane, Mrs Chesney, Mrs Ross, Mrs Caliari, Mrs Cagney, Mrs Guthrey and Mrs Irwin.

AVELLINGTON, May 7
The Golf Council discussed the Kirk-AAhndeyer Cup rules based on a conference with the captains .of tlie New South Wales and Victorian teams, but an important clause, dealing with New Zealand’s position with regal'd to the draw could not be decided. A sub-committee was appointed to go further into the matter.
The report on the courses for this year’s championships was not ready, and nothing can be done till it is received.
£5O was voted towards the cost of trophies at the Ladies’ Championship.
LADIES’ FOURSOMES.
' PALMERSTON NORTH, May 7. The Horowhitu links to-day was. the venue of the first open autumn foursome to be conducted by the Ladies’ Golf Union, in the Dominion. Entries number 74, and are stated to be exceptionally pleasing. Primarily, the introduction of the open autumn foursomes is due to the foresight of Mrs Guy Williams (Masterton), president of the Ladies’ Golf Union, who is the donor of two handsome silver cups as trophies, replicas of which to be presented to tho winners, have been donated by Miss E. Culling (Auckland). Tlie principle of the competition is to encourage the team spirit. Results: —
First round: Misses E. Culling (Auckland) and D. Chrystall (Christchurch) beat Mesdames Thompson and Marumaru (Bulls) seven and five. Mrs J. P. Innes and Miss N. Innes (Manawatu) beat Misses E. Smith aond S. Baldwin (Marton), six and ■five. Misses S. Watson (Manawatu) and E. Bell (Wellington) beat Mrs D. Bergh and Miss Peirce (Bulls) eight and seven. There were many byes in the first round. The second is being played this afternoon.
