The Full Court has made absolute a rule nisi prohibiting the. police from proceeding further oil the convictions of George Gill and seventeen other men alleged to have been concerned with the disturbances at Rothbury in December last. The ground on which the application was granted was that the Magistrate at West. Maitland, who heard all of the cases together, had no jurisdiction to do so. HOMELAND MINERS’ HOURS. LONDON, March 28. A conference was held to-day between the representatives of the miners and the coal owners to discuss the question of miners’ working hours, which is now the subject of legislation, with a view to reaching an amicable agreement. It was afterwards stated that certain proposals had been made which would be placed before th’o Miners’ Executive.The officials of the Miners’ Federation left London this evening for the International Coal Conference at Geneva. As they will be absent a week, the meeting of the Miners’ Executive will probably be held the week after next. .
