BOXING

MORGAN-TROWERN FIASCO, (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, February 14. A professional boxing match between Ted Morgan (10.0:1) and Reg Trowern (10.3) had a most unsatisfactory ending. Just at the close of the ninth round, Trowern claimed that he had been fouled, as the result a collision with Morgan’s elbow. The Association’s doctors ordered Trowern out of the ring for an examination. Ou returning the doctors informed the referee that Trowern was fit to fight. Trowern subsequently re-entered the ring, having been absent three or four minutes. When the referee gave instructions to proceed, Morgan claimed the fight on the ground that Trowern had not been fouled. The referee then declared Trowern the winner, amidst an uproar.
