The latest scores in the billiards matches are as follow: —Lindrum (playing) 21,575, including a break of 1001 unfinished. Smith 19,427 including breaks of 643, 474, 507. McConachy 17,213, including breaks of 391 and 630. Newman (playing) 17,342, including breaks of 636 and 306. McConachy regained the lead in the afternoon, totalling 1406 for that session, while Newman compiled only 232. The latter’s fine 636 in the evening, however, helped to give him a small lead at the end of play. GOLF. WELLINGTON, December 7. The Secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association has received a cablegram from the Royal and Ancient Club, saying it is now possible for youths to carry clubs for hire, till the age of 18, without prejudice to their amateur status. Formerly, the age was 16. SWIMMING. WHANGAREI, December 7. Ryan, the Australian middle-dis-tance swimming champion took part in a carnival last evening, and was defeated by Bridson, the New Zealand champion, in 440 yards. The time was 5.40. Bridson took the lead in the fourth lap and was a length ahead at the finish. \ Griffiths appeared in several exhibitions, and won the hundred yards race easily. CRICKET. The Brunner “A” team to play Stars at Dobson on Sunday will be as follows:—Thomas, H'oggafth, Kitto, Dr Wilkinson, Kennedy, McNeish, Purton, Cosgrove, Malloy, Bernard, Henderson. Emerg.: Loubere.
