BIGGS TRAGEDY
STATEMENT BY HUSBAND. (By Cable—Press Assn.— Copyright.) MELBOURNE, December 6. . William Biggs, whose wife was found drowned off St. Kilda, told the police there had been religious differences between himself and his wife. She was an unbeliever. It was one of his beliefs, as a member of the Plymouth brethren, that a wife could leave her husband, if one was a believer and the other an unbeliever. He, however, thought his wife would follow him to New Zealand. He declared that she should have possessed £lO, also a wristlet watch. The police think the £lO in the handbag may be in the sea, and are taking steps to drag the bay in the vicinity of the spot where the body was discovered.
