OPERA HOUSE. The great feature of to-day’s pictures at the Opera House will be P. C. Wren’s masterpiece, “Beau — Sabreur” to be shown this evening. One of the big points of “Beau Sabreur,” the sequel to the now famous “Beau G’Jste,’’ is the fact that the comedy .element lias not been lost—something rare in productions of this magnitude. It has been made into . a spectacular production and will be shown to-night. With a cast of noted screen stars, this attraction promises to exceed the success of its companioh. While the main work falls upon Garey Cooper, playing the title role, the comedy end has been turned over to a pair of able actors, Noah Beery and Roscoe Karns. During the early scenes of the story'Beery is a hated desert terror, a fearless tribesman, and Karns is his grand vizier, until it is learned thafc-they are former soldiers, deserted from the service. This gives not only a unique but a perfect bit of comedy to the tale.
WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS. Concluding their Greymouth season at the Town Hall last evening, the Westminster Glee Singers delighted an audience which practically filled the theatre, and again demonstrated themselves to be a musical combination of rare merit, the like of which is heard on tlie West Coast all too seldom. The programme submitted was well-varied, a nd, gave ample opportunity for sole and chorus work, the result being a concert bf high standard throughout. One of the most popular features was the singing of several rollicking sea chanteys by Albert Greene, while the boy sopranos were no small factor in the success of the entertainment. The programme concluded with a series of fine old English folk-songs, in which the humorous 'note was well defined. The cultured English voices of Westminster Glee Singers are a treat to hear, and their tour deserves the. success which will no doubt be achieved throughout New Zealand.
