Mrs J. A. Jermyn will leave Greymouth to-morrow for Blenheim.
Mrs F. M. Dennehy, who has been visiting Timaru, returned to Greymouth yesterday.
Admiral Sir Dudley De Chair’s term as Governor of New South Wales has been extended to April next.
Captain M. W. Buckley, Officer Commanding Wigram Airdrome, is on the West Coast, inspecting possible landing grounds. He is making the tour by motor-car.
Mr J. R. McNaughton, formerly manager of the National Bank at Greymouth and now of the Ladies’ Mile, Remuera, will leave shortly on a holiday visit to the Homeland. He will be accompanied by Mrs McNaughton.

At a special meeting of the Timaru Borough Council, Mr Alexander Edward A. Watkins, of the Public Works Department, Wellington, was appointed electrical engineer, in succession to Mr E. F. Holland, who has accepted appointment as engineer-manager of the Hutt Power Board.

Prior to their departure from Cobden, Firemen R. Cowan and S. Manson were farewelled by the Cobden Fire Brigade on Monday evening, and presented with a wallet and a fountain pen respectively. The presentations were made by Lieutenant Skeats, whose references to the departing members’ good work, and expressions of regret at their departure, were endorsed by other speakers. On behalf of the brigade’s team which participated in the recent contest at Otira, Fireman G. Anderson presented Fireman Manson with a replica of the rose bowl. A presentation was also made to Mr. J. Hyndman, who has acted, as M.C. at the brigade’s weekly dances. An enjoyable list of toasts and musical items was gone through during the evening.
