SIR C. FERGUSSON’S APPEAL. (Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, December 2. There was a very large gathering at Memorial Park this afternoon to farewell Their Excellencies. Tributes were paid by the Mayor and representatives of the returned soldiers, and Chamber of Commerce. Sir C. Fergusson, replying, spoke of the noble example of the pioneers and soldiers. He urged young and old to play their part as Empire builders. Each should do his and her duty whatever the sacrifi'cfc. As the men at the War had done their duty, so should all in their daily work. As long as the work was. done in the right spirit, all counted the same, whether it was showy or humble.
AT PALMERSTON NORTH. PALMERSTON N., December 3. To-day the Governor-General and. Lady Alice Fergusson paid a farewell visit to Palmerston North. This morning the Governor visited the Boys’ High School, Technical School, and Girls’ High School, and delivered addresses. This afternoon he is to unveil a memorial at Awapuni to the medical corps, visit the Library, and unveil a memorial to Sir James Wilson at the Hospital.
