THRASHED WITH POKER
WIFE’S ALLEGATION. AUCKLAND, December 1. Frederick George, Devey, aged 42 years, a carpenter, is in the hospital with a wound in the throat. He is in a serious condition. He was found at a house in Morningside, where his wife, who is separated from him, lives The neighbours heard screams come from the house early last evening, and Mrs Devey and hei’ young child later ran outside. A neighbour found Devey on the floor of the kitchen, wounded in the throat, and a knife nearby. Mrs Devey alleges that .she was thrashed with a poker, whereupon she ran outside.
