KING AT THEATRE
• A GREAT DEMONSTRATION (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) LONDON, November 7. The King and Queen, accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of York, were last evening warmly welcomed at Drury Lane Theatre, the audience rising and cheering for a considerable time before the curtain was raised for the performance of “Rose Marie.” The King was delighted with the demonstrations of loyalty, and raised his hat with a smiling acknowledgment. The Queen looked magnificently regal in a gold tissue dress, with gold tissue, fur trimmed coat, and diamond bandeau ear-rings. The Duchess of York wore a pale pink dress, and an iridescent cloak.
PRINCE’S TOUR. RUGBY? November 7. The King and Queen have approved of the Prince of Wales’s unofficial visit to South and East Africa next year. The Prince will go first to South Africa, sailing from England in the Union Castle liner Kenilworth Castle on January 3. After staying for a short while in Cape Town as the guest of the Governor-General, the Earl of Athlone and Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, he will proceed to East Africa, where he will have some big game shooting. He will also visit some of the places he was unable to reach on last year’s interrupted tour.
