ALIEN AS “AUSTRALIAN”
SERIES OF FRAUDS ALLEGED. (Bv Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received November 9, Midday.) LONDON, November 8. Aloysius -Tops, alias Major Tops, D. 5.0., posing as a Majoi’ of the Australian Forces, was charged with Else Trube, a Latvian woman, for failing to report their movements as aliens.. Tops gave his name as Aloysius Christoffel, when he appeared at the Manchester City Court with Else Trube, who was bound over for failure to register* as an alien. Seven charges against Tops related to forgery, false statements in connection with passports, and other documents, including a cheque, the amount of which he allegedly altered from £l/18/- to £BO/18/-, and also unlawfully wearing an officer’s uniform of the Australian Forces and six military medals. He was committed for trial on the forgery and false declaration charges. The others were adjourned.
