Mr. and Mrs D. Syme, Runanga, left for Christchurch this morning on holiday.

Mrs J. O’Brien, and Miss K. Spencer, (South Beach), left this morning for Christchurch.

Mr R. J. Inglis who is to succeed Mr. F. Howard as officer in charge of the Greymouth Tourist Office, arrived yesterday from Christchurch. .

Mr. T. P. Dunn'(Westport), left for Christchurch this morning. Mrs T. P. Dunn is visiting her mother, Mrs A. Lynch Guineas Street.

Mr. J. Trevella, formerly wharf foreman at Grey mouth for the Railways Department, and now stationed at Invercargill, will leave to-morrow for Christchurch, after ' visiting Greymouth.

Guests at the Albion Hotel include. Messrs. P. C. Quartermain, R. Sheen, L. Burnley, W. D. Bowman, W. S. Austin, E. T. Woodbury, R. B. Sinclair, S. J. Trevella, C. Calvert (Christchurch).

A Sydney cablegram stated that the New South Wales Cabinet had offered the Chief Commissionership of the New South Wales railways to Mr. W. J. Cleary, who now holds a high position in a city brewery.

Private advice received at Reefton to-day (telegraphed our. correspondent) recorded the death at Miramar, Wellington, of Mr Joseph SteeTe, aged 90, one of Reefton’s oldest residents. He is survived by his widow and daughter.

Rev. George Brown, pioneer minister of the Presbyterian. Church in New Zealand, will celebrate his 99th birthday on Monday. He resides in Grey Street, Onehunga, in a wooden bungalow he has occupied for well oVer 60 years (telegraphed our correspondent).

Mrs Bald, wife of Captain Bald who has recently relinquished command of the Gael and has gone to Nelson, left Hokitika to-day, and will leave Greymouth to-morrow for Wellington where She «vill reside. Her daughter, Miss Mary Bald, who was so successful at the Competitions on the Coast and in Dunedin, is already in Wellington.
