MAN TOSSED IN AIR

LONDON RESTAURANT-SCENE.

LONDON, August 17.

A remarkable scene outside a London restaurant was described at the Marylebone Police Court yesterday, when Giovanni Bucchioni, a powerfully built Italian, of Praed Street, Paddington, the manager, was fined £4 and £1 costs, for assaulting William Evans, of Shorts Gardens, W.C. Evans said that the assault occurred when he asked if he might go into the restaurant to have a cup of tea. .

Mr Keith McLeod, a chartered secretary, of Leinster Square, said that from a bus he and his wife saw a big, heavy man throw what appeared to be a dummy into the air. There was a thud as it landed on the ground, and then witness realised that it was a man. The big man then twice kicked the other as he lay on the ground. Mrs McLeod said Evans was tossed into the air like a bundle and kicked in the side as he fell on the pavement.
