BACHELOR PRINCE
WHY HE DOES NOT WED.
(United Service.) (By Cable—Press Assn.— Copyright.)
LONDON, September 26. The oft-asked question why th© Prince of Wales never marries, is frankly answered in the new Prince of Wales’ biography, published to-day. The authors are the brothers, Messrs W. and L. Townsend, who had the assistance of the Prince’s private secretary, Sir Godfrey Thomas, who read the manuscript, which he passed with only a few minor cuts, and who also supplied a great deal of extra material, which was incorporated into the finished book.
The following passage strikingly reveals why the Prince of Wales is still a bachelor: “It is not easy to define His Royal Highness’s outlook, on marriage. It is certain that he regards the sanctity of marriage so seriously that he will not be thrust into a marriage of convenience, retaining the best socalled, old-fashioned beliefs in his creed of modernity. The Prince is a firm disciple in the belief that it is useless to marry without love. Because he has not yet experienced love in its truo intensity, the Prince does not get married. That is all there is to it.”
