Mrs H. Rattray left this morning for Christchurch, on holiday.

Mr L. Gudsell left this morning on a short visit to Christchurch.

Mr E. McDonnell left this morning for Wellington, en route for Sydney.

Miss Beryl Smith, late of Auckland, is visiting Greymouth and is the guest of Mrs C. McQueen, Omoto Road.

Mrs Neil McQueen, who has been on a visit to Dunedin, has returned to Greymouth.

Mr and Mrs j" W. Greenslade left this morning on a visit to Christchurch.

Mr H. D. James was a passenger on ttiis morning’s express for Clnistchurch.

Miss E. Morgan was a • passenger on this morning’s express to Christchurch.

Dr. McEvedy, of Wellington, arrived at Greymouth yesterday, and is the guest of Mr and Mrs F. M. Dennehy.

The Rev. J. F. Goldie, President of the Methodist Church Conference, arrived in Greymouth this afternoon.

Mr Athol Kilgour, of Masterton, who has been visiting his sister, Mrs W. ■Green, Perdtti Street, left on his return to-day.

The death has occurred at Christchurch of Mr W. A. Townrow, of the Railways Department, Westport. He leaves a widow and three children.

The engagement is announced of Carol, second daughter of the Bishop of Christchurch and Mrs. West-Wat-son, to Leicester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Webb, of Invercargill.

The death occurred last evening of Mrs Eastgate, wife of Mr C. R. Eastgate of Hokitika. Deceased, who was 57 years of age and a native of Sheffield (Canterbury) had been ailing for many years. She leaves no family.

After a short illness, the death occurred last night at the Grey Hospital of Mr Michael Moore, member of a well known Brunner family. Deceased is survived by several brothers and sisters.

Mr McCrone of Auckland, has been appointed Health Inspector for the Bullei' district and has arrived in Westport. Mr Nicol, who has been relieving at Westport, will leave for Christchurch on Monday next.

A Washington cablegram stated that Mr Myron L. Black of Rochester (New York), has been appointed as assistant Trade Commissioner in New Zealand. Mr. Black was formerly connected with the New York office of the Commerce Department.
