OPERA HOUSE. Rex, the King of Wild Horses, will be seen in “The Devil Horse’’ Co-night. “The Devil Horse’’ is a drama inspired by the history of the crimson trails of the pioneer west. From the wrath of the slaying steed the Indians prayed to their gods for deliverance. Strange, terrible tales they told of a great black horse whose hoofs dealt death to the redskins. In their superstitious was a supernautral animal —tremendous in size, snorting fire, fleet'of foot, as terrifying as lightning —a Devil Horse ! But,, to a girl who was captured by the Indians, to the man who loved her, to the white men and women fighting valiantly in the Indian attack on their fort, and to' Lady, his mate, the Devil Horse was a hero horse. SUNDAY BENEFIT. “The Girl from Chicago,’’ featuring Conrad Nagel, will be shown at the Picture Benefit on Sunday. MONDAY. Thrilling adventure, exotic romance, picturesque scenes and characters, and
a stirring story of love and revolt will be found when “The Foreign Legion,” will be shown on Monday. Not for a long time has an audience here seen a picture that equals “The Foreign Legion” in. any of the above features. SOCIAL AT COBDEN. The benefit social in aid of an injured player was well-attended last night. . Members of the Cobden Soccer Club had arrangements well in hand. Music was supplied by Messrs Burn and Fletcher (piano), McLean and Yates (violins), and Mr C. Goodall made an efficient M.C. Supper was provided by the lady supporters of the Club. After supper, the Club President, Mr H. R. Barrett, returned thanks to all present for their assistance making special reference to the Cobden Fire Brigade to let the benefit take place. MAWHERA DANCE. The Chocolate Dance will be the hit of the season at the Mawhera dance to-night. Don’t miss this big attraction. The Hall, decorated with chocolates, will be quite a sensation. Join in the chocolate raid.
