REPARATIONS ENQUIRY
A GERMAN DENIAL.
(Australian Press Association.) (By Cable —Press Assn. —Copyright.) BERLIN, March 22. HeiT Schaeht has arrived to report progress on the Reparations negotiations. Simultaneously semi-official communication denies that he offered an annual payment of £87,500,000. The statement adds that these rumours are false, and have been circulated fox’ the purpose of accustoming the world to the idea that Germany could pay such monstrous sums for two ox* three generations. The statement points out that the Allies pay America what they have received from Germany, and thus they suffer no loss to theii’ economic substance. Germany on the contrary, must borrow because she is unable to raise the instalxnents that are demanded from hex’ resources.
